If you want to kick up your pasta dishes with a bunch of nice flavor, find the time to make this sauce recipe. It'll give new meaning to the word delicious!
- Ingredients:
- 1 28 oz can of tomato sauce
- 1 28 oz can of tomato puree
- 1 small can tomato paste
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 4 large cloves of garlic; finely minced
- 1/2 small onion; peeled & finely chopped
- 2 Tbsp fresh basil; finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp fresh parsley; finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp dry oregano
- 3 Tbsp cane sugar
- 1/2 cup parmesan reggiano cheese
- 1 bay leaf; remove from sauce before serving
- sea salt & black pepper; approx. 1 tsp of each or to taste
- Directions:
- Using a large saucepan add olive oil & place on a medium high burner.
- Add onion & garlic, cook & stir until lightly brown.
- Stir in tomato paste until smooth & bring heat to a simmer.
- Add tomato sauce, puree & all remaining ingredients, stir well.
- For best results allow sauce to cook on low heat for 2-4 hours while continuously stirring throughout the process.
- Remove bay leaf & serve with amore'!
